Welcome to Kirkwood, the "church in the woods.” Nestled among towering oaks and colorful dogwoods and camellias, we offer the surrounding Springfield, Virginia area and greater community a place of worship and song, of prayer and learning. We offer the Lord of Life whose compassion and comfort and whose grace and guidance may be found in a gathering of fellow Christians, drawn together in faith, hope and love. We are young and old, married and single, and together we are sisters and brothers of Jesus Christ.

Next Sunday, June 30, Kirkwood member Briana Windhausen will be speaking during worship on her mission experiences with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Australia and the Philippines. Briana has been a part of Kirkwood since 1999, when she was two years old and joined the church when she was confirmed as a teenager. She graduated from West Springfield High School in 2015, and went on to study Film at Virginia Commonwealth University until graduating in 2018. She found out about YWAM during her time at VCU after joining the organization on a mission trip to Brazil. She decided to further her involvement by joining a Discipleship Training School (DTS) for a six-month journey of training and missions. She spent the first four months of her mission training in Brisbane, Australia, and then two months on mission in Davao City on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. Briana looks forward to sharing with the congregation of Kirkwood what the Lord taught her in her time abroad.
