Kirkwood offers a variety of opportunities for children, year-round – from Sunday school and childcare to music and worship service participation. Come join the fun!

NURSERY:
At Kirkwood Presbyterian, we strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment where your child can draw closer to God. Our trained, professional child care staff works to ensure that your child will have the best possible experience in our nursery. Child care is provided from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The nursery is offered to infants through 3 yrs of age. Please know that all infants and children are more than welcome to stay in the sanctuary during worship.

PRE-WORSHIP: (9:45 - 10:45)
Prior to the worship service, children are offered an opportunity to explore and learn about God's word through fun and interactive activities.  The lessons are conducted through crafts, music and games. The children greatly enjoy this more relaxed time together for fellowship and getting to know each other through godly play.

WORSHIP:
Children 1st grade and up are encouraged to participate in the service through passing out bulletins, aiding in the collection of the offering and serving as an Acolyte  In the Acolyte Ministry our young people serve as active leaders in our worship service.  Acolytes perform a very important function in the church by bringing the light of God into the sanctuary at the beginning of the worship service and carrying the light of God out into the world at the end of the services.  The candles the acolytes light for the service remind worshippers that God is with us.

SUNDAY SCHOOL (DURING WORSHIP 11:15 - 12:00)
Kirkwood's goal is to provide a sound Christian education program and thus has selected the Spark curriculum to guide each lesson.  Through the Spark Lectionary curriculum we delve into the same bible stories that are heard during the worship services. Children ages 3yrs through 6th grade are encouraged to join teachers immediately following the children's worship sermon to continue learning more about god. Two class rooms are divided from ages 3yrs to 1st grade and then the second room from 2nd - 6th grade.

First Sunday of the month, children remain in Worship.

CONFIRMATION:
The Christian Education team offers any child in 6th grade or higher an opportunity to participate in confirmation class. Confirmation is a learning opportunity and important step in one’s faith journey where a small group of students are exposed to some of the key teachings of the Christian Faith, the history of the universal church and our local church, the life and work of Jesus, and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Confirmation class helps young people explore their faith journey and articulate their faith in Christ Jesus.

MUSIC;
During the years the Christian Education team strives to provide opportunities for the children to offer their gifts of music during the worship service.  The children often perform during Christmas, Easter and Mother's day.  Also, children are learning to play hand bells and enjoy Christian music.
